
Code of Conduct
Children develop differently and at different rates.
They react differently to the same pressures. Broadway Junior Football Club are
attempting to give all the young people who play soccer a good and worthwhile experience
and the relationships with all the adults at the matches and at training must
be positive, sporting and be part of the example adults should be setting for
the children.
Expectations of Players:
- Take pride in doing their best.
- Show good sportsmanship to other
teams.
- Cooperate with, and encourage, their
team mates.
- Respect and accept ALL refereeing
decisions.
- Learn and respect the rules.
- Respect and look after the kit and
equipment.
- Beat opponents by skill and not by
unfair means.
- Keep their self control at all times.
- Thank the referee and opposition for
the game.
- Show good behaviour and encourage fair
play at all times.
Expectations of Parents and
Spectators:
- Support, respect and encourage all the
players, officials and coaches.
- Leave playing decisions to the
coaches.
- Pay the appropriate match/coaching
fee.
- Respect and accept ALL refereeing
decisions.
- Recognise and encourage skill,
enthusiasm and sporting behaviour in both teams.
- Give a warm and generous welcome to
both teams.
- Encourage their child to follow the
code of conduct.

Expectations of Coaches and
Officials:
- Provide appropriate coaching to meet
the needs of the children.
- Emphasize enjoyment and good behaviour
through the use of praise and positive comments.
- Let the child set his/her own
standards of excellence.
- Separate sport failure from personal
failure.
- Stress the benefits of taking part,
e.g. friendship, teamwork, success, health, exercise, self esteem.
- Organise
matches/training and provide appropriate kit and equipment.
- Give a warm and generous welcome to
both teams.
- Respect and accept ALL refereeing
decisions.
- Use
match/coaching fees to further enhance the learning of the players.
Please remember:
- Young people are not playing to
satisfy your ambitions.
- Young people are involved for their
enjoyment – not just yours.
- You have a responsibility to encourage
young people to play by the rules.
- Teamwork and effort are as important
as winning.
- Do not allow your winning side to
gloat over their victory.
- Never ridicule or shout at a young
person for making a mistake. Praise them or keep quiet.
- Set an example by applauding good play
by both teams.
- Never publicly question the referee’s
decisions. Never doubt their honesty.
- Help to remove all verbal, racial and
physical abuse in soccer.
- Recognise the value and importance of
coaches, who give up their time to help the young people.
- Be responsible. Obey the code, and
allow everyone to enjoy the best game in the world.
In the event that
any member feels that he or she has suffered discrimination in any way, or that
any of the club policies, rules or Code’s of Conduct have been broken, they
should follow the procedure set out below:
- Speak to the parents representative of
your child’s age group, stating your complaints/concerns
Or
- Report the matter to the Club
Secretary, Child Protection Officer or another member of the Management
Committee.
Your
report should include:
- Details of what, when and where the
occurrence took place.
- Any witness statement and names.
- Names of any others who have been
treated in a similar way.
- Details of any former complaints made
about the incident, date, when and to whom it was made.
- A preference for a solution to the
incident.
The Clubs Committee
will sit for any hearings that are requested.
